Dental Implant Failure
Dental implant failure occurs due to several reasons. There are instances wherein a person with several implants may have one of them unsuccessful. These can be because of dental implant rejection or improperly situated implant. Since the material used for the process is titanium, it is basically safe and effective to be used. The source of the contamination may be from the factory where it has been stored or made although the company has followed all the guidelines of the FDA. Also, the infection may happen during the process even if the dentist is particular to sanitation practices. Often, the failure is shown shortly after the procedure is done. The signs of failure can be bleeding and excessive discomfort. If the implant fails to attach and the bone rejected it, then it must be removed and another implant must be placed. The reasons for the rejection may be surgical trauma and lack of healthy bone for stability of the implant or allergies.

In addition, an implant that is not properly put in place will most likely result to dental implant failure. If the mouth’s activities do not match the implants’ location, the motions would be very disturbing for the person. On the other hand, some people do not follow the aftercare guidelines which also results to failures. The instructions of the dentist must be followed for the proper care of the implant. Some studies conducted show that smoking can increase the failure probability of the implant. This is mainly due to infection caused by smoking.
